Yoooooo! I hope you been big chillin' lately dude? 😁
So! By the time you get this, I might be a little late in terms of the news, but I wanted to take a quick moment to pour one out for Akira Toriyama! 😔
If you aren't familiar with who they are, they are the creator of Dragon Ball Z, which is like one of the most popular Animes of all time! And they passed away this year....
So before we share some childhood stories of growing up with Dragon Ball, let's pour one out for a real one 🍺
But yeah! So me personally, funnily enough, I experienced Dragon Ball the most via the Budokai fighting game series! I had 1, 2, and 3 for the PS2 growing up! I beat all the games, and I used to play the game against all of my friends as a kid, and I remember taking turns playing through the campaign and everything! And I have the most POWERFUL memory of trying to beat kid buu for the first first time, and doing the spirit bomb and everything to beat the game haha! 😂
And when I wasn't playing Budokai, I would try and catch episodes of Dragon Ball Z when I could. But for some reason, I'd always catch the ones where it was just Goku talking the whole time LMAO! But! I also have a SUPER vivid memory of the episode of when Gotenks fights Majin Buu for the first time! 🤩
And! Musically! Rock the Dragon, the OG US Dragon Ball Z, intro music, was one of the first songs I had ever used to learn how to sample. And even more recently, as of like a year ago, I have an unfinished future funk project of me playing around with Zenkai Power, the OG Japan Dragon Ball Intro song (if I'm not mistaken)! So literally literally literally, Dragon Ball Z has an actual place in my journey to becoming Groovy Kaiju, and me growing up into the person I am today! 😎🦖🙏
Lastly, I'll admit I'm not a SUPER huge Dragon Ball fan, I very very very much enjoy it, but I have friends that are way more hardcore than me haha! But for some reason, I get a TON of Instagram Reels and suggested Youtube videos to me all the time about Dragon Ball Z, or like fan made Dragon Ball videos. 😅
And I came across this SICK 10 minute fan made Dragon Ball Z video I've had in my notes to send you for a COOL minute now. It's a WILDLY high production value Fan Made Dragon Ball Z animation as a way for the team to show their appreciation to Akira Toriyama, and the Dragon Ball series. And, with the recent news, even if you're not a Dragon Ball Z fan, let's check this out to see how much love and passion talented people have for Akira Toriyama's work! 🤯
